Why choose us as your hair and skin clinic in Australia?

An important health & safety message

We strongly recommend patients check if their PRP provider performing the PRP hair or skin treatment is performed at a minimum by a registered nurse. Registered nurses are trained in patient safety and hygiene protocols.

We also recommend patients confirm if an Australian medical doctor has contributed to the treatment protocols.

PRP refers to platelet-rich plasma. This is a component of your blood that’s rich in white blood cells and growth factors. PRP can encourage healing and has been used to try to help the healing of damaged ligaments, tendons, joints, muscle and skin.

When you’re young, your skin is usually elastic and plump. It normally heals quickly when it’s injured. As you age, the fibres that support your skin and provide flexibility can begin to degrade. At the same time, our skin can lose hyaluronic acid, a substance that helps it retain moisture. The combination of these processes can lead to sagging skin, wrinkles and lines. The skin’s texture may be thinner, and you might notice more blood vessels under the surface. Your skin may even get irritated more easily, and wounds can take longer to heal.

Many people try to correct the signs of ageing once they’re noticeable. However, many skin rejuvenation products can have difficulty being absorbed deeply enough to be effective. Topical treatments may also contain chemicals that aren’t ideal for your body. PRP is injected beneath the surface of the skin which may stimulate collagen and elastin production firming and tightening thinning skin, effectively smoothing wrinkles and fine lines.

PRP skin treatments

PRP skin treatments are a safe, popular way to address common issues with the skin and help tackle the many signs of ageing.

PRP, platelet rich plasma, uses the awesome healing power of your blood and the growth factors contained within its plasma which can deliver everything your skin needs to heal and regenerate.

The PRP solution can help stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, two primary ingredients in healthy, younger-looking skin. This is why it’s so popular!

PRP skin treatments can help deliver firmer, younger looking skin as well as treat a range of common conditions such as acne scars, sagging skin, wrinkles, fine lines, discolouration and hyperpigmentation.

PRP skin treatments are:

PRP Skin Treatments Performed by Medical Professionals

  1. A registered nurse takes a small sample of your blood.
  2. This sample is then spun in a centrifuge, separating the platelets (growth factors) from the red blood cells.
  3. Your own platelets that are rich in growth factors are then reintroduced into areas of the scalp where there is hair loss or thinning with small injections.
  4. Your scalp is then micro-needled to encourage blood flow to areas of the scalp where there is hair loss or thinning (miniaturised hair follicles).

What to Expect Before and After Your PRP Treatment

Most PRP skin procedures take about 45 minutes. Before the treatment, patients should stop taking any medications that influence platelet function, including some herbs and over-the-counter pain medications. You should consult with your physician before discontinuing any medication, though.

Be gentle with your skin following the procedure. It may be slightly red, tender or bruised. You may also feel tingling or pressure where the needles were introduced. These side effects are temporary. Using moisturizers that contain natural ingredients can help replenish the moisture barrier, which is essential for healing.

Because skin cells need time to develop, you might not notice the results right away. The full effects of a PRP skin procedure can typically show up within a few weeks or months. The benefits can last for up to 18 months. It is recommended for people to have maintenance treatments to maintain their results.

How do PRP skin treatments work?

The PRP skin treatment process is very straightforward and appointments last around 45 minutes.

We begin by taking a small sample of blood, like a blood test. We separate the blood until we have the plasma we’re looking for.

That plasma contains the essential growth factors we need to help regenerate your skin and make repairs.

Once ready, we perform tiny PRP injections under the eyes then microneedle the entire face with your own plasma.

Afterwards, you have the option of using LED to help minimise the risk of infection and reduce inflammation.

Appointments last approximately 45 minutes and once complete, you can go about your day!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a cutting-edge treatment that utilises components of your own blood to promote healing and rejuvenation. PRP is derived from a small sample of your blood, which is then processed to concentrate the platelets and plasma. These platelets are rich in growth factors and proteins that are essential for tissue repair and regeneration.

The process begins with drawing a small amount of your blood. This sample is placed in a centrifuge, which spins it at high speeds to separate the blood into its various components. The platelets and plasma are then collected and prepared for treatment.

When applied to the skin, PRP can stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and enhance overall skin health. It is commonly used to address a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. PRP skin treatments are popular because they utilise natural processes to achieve youthful and radiant skin, with minimal risk of allergic reactions or complications since the treatment uses your own blood.

At Hair and Skin Science, we are proud to offer PRP skin treatments, leveraging the latest advancements in this innovative therapy to help you achieve your skincare goals.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy offers a multitude of benefits for skin rejuvenation and overall skin health. Here are some of the key advantages of PRP treatments:

1. Natural and Safe
PRP uses your own blood, reducing the risk of allergic reactions or adverse effects. This makes it a safe option for many people, including those with sensitive skin.

2. Stimulates Collagen Production
One of the primary benefits of PRP is its ability to stimulate collagen production. Collagen is essential for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

3. Improves Skin Texture and Tone
PRP treatments can enhance the overall texture and tone of your skin. This includes reducing the appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage, resulting in smoother and more even skin.

4. Minimally Invasive
PRP therapy is a minimally invasive procedure, involving only a simple blood draw and injections. This results in less downtime and a quicker recovery compared to more invasive cosmetic procedures.

5. Enhances Skin Hydration
The growth factors in PRP can improve skin hydration, making your skin look and feel more plump and youthful.

6. Customisable Treatment
PRP can be combined with other treatments such as microneedling, laser therapy, or dermal fillers to enhance results and address specific skin concerns more effectively.

7. Long-Lasting Results
While individual results may vary, many patients experience long-lasting improvements in their skin’s appearance and health after a series of PRP treatments.

8. Suitable for All Skin Types
PRP is suitable for all skin types and tones, making it an inclusive treatment option for a wide range of individuals seeking skin rejuvenation.

At Hair and Skin Science, we specialise in PRP treatments to help you achieve a radiant, youthful complexion. Our experienced professionals are dedicated to delivering personalised care and outstanding results.
PRP rejuvenation is a versatile and effective treatment suitable for a wide range of individuals seeking to improve their skin’s appearance and health. Here’s a detailed look at who can benefit from PRP rejuvenation:

1. Adults Seeking Skin Rejuvenation
PRP therapy is ideal for adults looking to reduce the signs of ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. It can help restore a youthful and radiant complexion.

2. Individuals with Acne Scars or Hyperpigmentation
Those struggling with acne scars or hyperpigmentation can benefit from PRP’s ability to stimulate collagen production and promote skin healing, resulting in a more even skin tone and smoother texture.

3. People with Sun-Damaged Skin
PRP rejuvenation can help repair and revitalise sun-damaged skin, reducing the appearance of sunspots and improving overall skin health.

4. Patients Seeking Minimally Invasive Treatments
If you prefer a minimally invasive option with little downtime, PRP rejuvenation is an excellent choice. The procedure involves a simple blood draw and targeted injections, making it less invasive than surgical alternatives.

5. Those Looking for Natural Treatment Options
PRP therapy uses your own blood, eliminating the risk of allergic reactions or complications from foreign substances. This makes it a natural and safe option for skin rejuvenation.

6. Individuals with Sensitive Skin
Since PRP is derived from your own blood, it is well-suited for individuals with sensitive skin who may react to other types of treatments or skincare products.

7. Anyone Wanting to Enhance Skin Hydration and Elasticity
PRP can improve skin hydration and elasticity, making it beneficial for anyone looking to enhance their skin’s overall appearance and feel.

8. People of All Skin Types and Tones
PRP rejuvenation is suitable for all skin types and tones, making it an inclusive treatment option for a diverse range of individuals.

9. Patients Seeking a Customisable Treatment
PRP can be combined with other treatments such as microneedling or laser therapy to address specific skin concerns and enhance overall results.

At Hair and Skin Science, we offer personalised PRP rejuvenation treatments tailored to your unique skin needs and goals. Our team of skilled professionals is committed to helping you achieve a healthier, more youthful complexion.
The timeline for seeing results from PRP skin treatments can vary based on individual factors and the specific condition being treated. However, here is a general overview of what you can expect:

1. Immediate Effects
Some patients may notice a slight improvement in skin texture and hydration immediately after the treatment. This is primarily due to the initial response of the skin to the PRP injections.

2. Initial Results (2-3 Weeks)
Most patients begin to see noticeable improvements in their skin within 2 to 3 weeks after the first treatment. During this time, the growth factors in PRP start to stimulate collagen production and cellular regeneration, leading to enhanced skin texture and tone.

3. Optimal Results (4-6 Weeks)
Significant results typically become more apparent around 4 to 6 weeks post-treatment. By this time, the new collagen and elastin fibres are more developed, resulting in firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin.

4. Long-Term Benefits
For the best outcomes, a series of 3 to 4 treatments spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart is often recommended. The cumulative effects of multiple treatments can lead to long-lasting improvements in skin quality and health.

5. Maintenance
To maintain the results, many patients opt for periodic maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months. This helps to sustain the collagen stimulation and keep the skin looking fresh and rejuvenated.

At Hair and Skin Science, our experts tailor each PRP treatment plan to your unique skin needs and goals, ensuring you achieve the best possible results. We are dedicated to helping you enjoy a radiant, youthful complexion with our advanced PRP skin therapies.
The benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) skin treatments can vary based on individual factors such as age, skin condition, and lifestyle. However, here is a general guide to understanding the longevity of PRP treatment results:

1. Initial Duration of Results
After completing a series of PRP treatments, typically 3 to 4 sessions spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart, most patients will start to see significant improvements in their skin’s texture, tone, and overall appearance. These initial results can last for several months.

2. Long-Term Benefits
The collagen and elastin production stimulated by PRP can continue to improve your skin’s quality for several months after the final treatment. Many patients enjoy noticeable benefits for 12 to 18 months following their initial treatment series.

3. Maintenance Treatments
To sustain the results and keep your skin looking its best, maintenance treatments are recommended. Periodic PRP treatments every 6 to 12 months can help maintain the benefits by continually stimulating collagen production and skin regeneration.

4. Factors Affecting Longevity
The duration of PRP benefits can be influenced by various factors, including:

– Age: Younger patients may see longer-lasting results due to more active collagen production.
– Skin Condition: Those with healthier skin may maintain results longer.
– Lifestyle: A healthy lifestyle, including proper skincare, nutrition, and sun protection, can prolong the effects of PRP treatments.
– Number of Treatments: Following the recommended series of treatments ensures optimal and longer-lasting results.

At Hair and Skin Science, we provide personalised PRP treatment plans tailored to your unique skin needs and goals. Our team of experienced professionals is committed to helping you achieve long-lasting, radiant skin through our advanced PRP therapies.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatments should be performed by qualified and experienced medical professionals to ensure safety and optimal results. Here’s a detailed overview of who can perform PRP treatments:

1. Licensed Medical Practitioners
PRP treatments should be administered by licensed medical practitioners such as dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons, or general practitioners who have received specialised training in PRP therapy. These professionals have the necessary medical knowledge and expertise to perform the procedure safely.

2. Trained and Certified Nurses
Registered nurses who have undergone specific training and certification in PRP therapy can also perform the treatments under the supervision of a licensed medical doctor. This ensures that the procedures are carried out with a high standard of care and precision.

At Hair and Skin Science, our PRP treatments are performed by experienced and certified medical professionals. We are committed to providing safe and effective treatments, utilising the latest techniques and highest standards of care to help you achieve your skincare goals.
