Benefits of Skin Needling in Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane
Hair and Skin Science offers skin needling in Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane, providing our clients with a wide range of benefits. If you are looking to achieve various skin goals, the best results, and a relatively short recovery period with a single treatment, consider our skin needling treatment.
Compared with skin treatments, such as LED light therapy and chemical peels, skin needling results materialise quickly. After undergoing micro-needling treatment, the skin immediately starts producing new collagen and elastin, and you can expect to see results within 24 hours to 48 hours.
On the other hand, after an intensive peel, post-treatment recovery can take up to 10 days, and it can take as long as three weeks before you’ll start seeing results.
Save for laser hair removal, a skin needling procedure offers various treatments in one session, including skin tightening. Our skin needling in Sydney also improves the appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation, age spots, and pregnancy marks. Whether you developed stretch marks during pregnancy or want to restore the effects of sun exposure, our needling skin treatment is the ideal solution for you.
Skin needling is a minimally invasive procedure requiring a short post-treatment downtime. If you are not pregnant and generally in good health, these treatments are entirely safe.
You can derive optimal benefit from microneedling, regardless of your skin type. Skin needling treatments are not light-based, and they don’t involve abrasive chemicals or anything resulting in skin inflammation. Microneedling also doesn’t damage the epidermis, making it a safe treatment for all skin types and skin tones.
The best time to apply skin products, such as moisturisers, anti-ageing cream, and other topical treatments is right after receiving skin needling treatments. The holes micro-needles make in your skin allow for optimal absorption of all gels, serums, and creams into the dermis, increasing their effectiveness.
If you find that some products don’t work for you, apply them after receiving your skin needling treatment. You’ll likely see better results.
The cost of your microneedling treatment depends on the size of the area you want to cover. Microneedling delivers long-term results and can address multiple skin conditions, making it one of the most cost-effective skin treatments available.
Microneedling improves communication between your skin cells, allowing for the uninhibited transfer of cytokines, genetic materials, and various growth factors, enhancing tissue repair and giving you a more youthful appearance.

What Is Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling, or collagen induction therapy, is a highly effective skin treatment. Skin needling involves evoking the body’s wound healing response to reduce the appearance of acne scarring, stretch marks, sun damage, and more.
Through the production of collagen, a skin needling treatment plan can address various skin conditions, which may not be possible with light therapy, peels, or other dermatological treatments.
How Collagen Induction Therapy Works
Dermatologists, aestheticians, or qualified skin therapists can provide microneedling treatments, using an approved skin needling device, such as a skinpen. Each session takes up to 20 minutes, depending on the treatment area, and most patients need around 4-6 treatments.
First, the skin therapist will apply a numbing cream to all treatment areas. They will then move the skinpen or other needling device around the area, so the needles make small cuts on the skin.
These micro-wounds initiate your body’s wound healing response, increasing the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen has anti-wrinkle properties and improves the appearance of your skin. Combining micro-needling with a hyaluronic acid application ensures the recovery process starts immediately.
How It Can Help
By increasing collagen, microneedling can restore a wide range of skin conditions and is a highly versatile treatment. The microneedling treatment we offer in Sydney is particularly useful in treating acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, and uneven skin tone.
Acne Scarring
Acne scarring in the form of ice pick scars, boxcar scars, and rolling atrophic scars can significantly impact a person’s appearance. If left untreated, scarring can also be permanent.
Microneedling is a non-invasive and effective treatment for acne scars. However, we may recommend our platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for clients with darker skin tones to reduce acne scars’ appearance.
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
As you age, wrinkles may appear on your facial skin, and your skin starts losing its elasticity, giving it a lax appearance. Our microneedling treatment increases the build-up of collagen, tightens the skin, and removes fine lines. The treatment will also give your skin a healthy, youthful glow.
Uneven Skin Tone
Over time, exposure to the sun’s UV rays will result in discolouration in the form of age spots, freckles, or pigmentation. At Hair and Skin Science, we offer several treatments to address pigmentation, enlarged pores, and skin inflammation.
After a thorough skin examination, we’ll recommend a microneedling treatment. CO2 fractional laser therapy or platelet-rich plasma therapy may also be useful in alleviating pigmentation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)
Not all people can safely undergo micro-needling. This treatment is not an option if you used Accutane within the last three months, received radiation skin treatment within the past 12 months, or suffer from skin conditions, such as herpes simplex. You also can’t undergo this treatment if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or having a history of poor wound healing.
The side effects are mild in comparison to abrasive treatments, such as chemical peels. More than 150,000 microneedle treatments have been carried out worldwide, and no adverse side effects have been observed.
If you have sensitive skin, the treatment may be somewhat uncomfortable during the hours following the procedure. However, during the procedure, we manage any pain you may feel using an approved numbing cream.
For 3-5 days after receiving skin needling, avoid using all products with retinol or glycolic acid as an active ingredient. Don’t come in direct sunlight, and apply sunscreen before going outside.
